Volunteers and staff from the Montrose Settlements Restoration Program journeyed to Santa Barbara Island for a mass planting of native shrubs. After a long day of intense labor over 1,000 native plants were placed in the ground that will provide suitable nesting habitat for Xantus's Murrelets and Cassin's Auklets. These are two seabirds that originally nested in large numbers on Santa Barbara Island until the non-native ice plant took over parts of the island reducing the amount of suitable nesting habitat. This short film shows the challenges of working in a unique environment and the intrigue of this tiny island off of California's coast.

Dan Petry speaking in front of Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors reiterating what Mr. William J. Wagener has now done twice which is to present an affidavit to appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate if Tom Sneddon and his staff committed "FRAUD ON THE COURT" in The Michael Jackson Trial! If the prosecution team committed alleged felonies then they should be indicted put on trial and sentenced if found guilty! Note: Apparently only a few weeks after I presented this heart felt speech to The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, Tom Sneddon has passed away! Here are my thoughts on his passing! Tom Sneddon took the easy way out, as he should have spent many years in prison for the unbelievable 20 years or so that he pursued Michael Jackson just to find him innocent on all ch...

Santa Barbara 103 The party at the museum for the official presentation of the treasures of Amanda Lockridge begins. Eden is the only representative of the Capwell clan, C.C. and his staff follow the event on television, at the Capwell residence. Laken prefers also not to accompany her parents, not wanting to participate in this new struggle between the Lockridges and Capwells. Ted uses the absence of Augusta and Lionel to join Laken at home and to exchange with her their Christmas presents ahead of time. Mason accepts a call from Dominic which, coming in as an anonymous source, informs him that he could be likely to find some compromising indications in the residence Lockridge. Mason disembarks to their place some minutes afterwards with a mandate of house search. In spite of the protests...

On September 25th the Jewel of the Seas made her final port of call on an 8 night Pacific Coastal Repositioning cruise when she arrived in Santa Barbara. Located just to the north of Los Angeles the port of Santa Barbara, like Monterey, is not capable of handling a cruise ship. Instead the ship anchored in the bay and managed it's own tendering operations to transport guests and crew between the shore and ship. When preparing for departure in the late afternoon the Jewel of the Seas had an issue with one of the winches used to raise the tender boats. As a result she was delayed in departing but was eventually able to successfully load all four tenders back onto the ship before leaving. 8 Night Pacific Coastal Sailing on 9/18/15 Day 1: Vancouver, BC Day 2: Victoria, BC Day 3: Astoria, OR ...
The tales of two papers: how one student newspaper on the campus of University of California -- Santa Barbara covered a mass shooting while the other chose to ignore it. Also, NBC's sit down with Edward Snowden, dangerous conditions for reporters in Ukraine, CNN anchors moving to New York, and avoiding conflicts of interest -- real and perceived. Missouri School of Journalism professors Mike McKean, Jim Flink and Amy Simons discuss the issue on KBIA-FM's media criticism program, "Views of the News." Pour on the rum on the wound
And send kisses through a postcard
The winter has come
Straight to the bones
Wile you're still rubbing your eyes
Let the wax dry on the pulps
Prayers are becoming courses
Salt-away heart/cuttlebone knife
...nobody loves as i love you tonight!
Far away from here
Where the sky is getting clear
The blueberries float
In the outdoor washtubs
And my hampered fingers
As a compass without a needle
It will never end
Looking for your hands
Over the foam of the waves
The tail of the whale
Over and over
